This Privacy Notice explains how TechBuddy("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use TechBuddy (the "Service"). TechBuddy is the data controller for the personal data described below.

1. Data we collect

Account data: name, email address, login credentials.
Content you submit: questions, notes, favorites, video requests.
Support communications: messages you send us.
Usage and device data: pages viewed, features used, browser type, device identifiers, approximate location derived from IP, and log/telemetry data.
Billing data: handled by Paddle (see "Sharing" below). We receive subscription status and the last four digits of your card from Paddle but do not store full payment details.

2. How we use your data

To create and operate your account (contract performance).
To provide AI answers and guides you request (contract performance).
To protect the Service against fraud and abuse (legitimate interests).
To improve features and fix bugs (legitimate interests).
To send service-related emails such as receipts and security alerts (contract performance / legal obligation).
To send marketing emails — only where you have given consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

3. Sharing

We share data only with the following categories of recipients:

Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database, email delivery, error monitoring, AI model providers used to generate responses.
Merchant of Record (Paddle) — for the sale of subscriptions, payment processing, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing.
Professional advisers — such as legal and accounting providers, where necessary.
Authorities — where required by law or to protect rights, property or safety.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

5. Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it, subject to legal retention requirements (for example, billing records).

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

access the personal data we hold about you;
request correction of inaccurate data;
request deletion of your data;
request restriction of, or object to, processing;
request a copy of your data in a portable format;
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies are needed to sign you in and remember your preferences (such as dark mode). We may also use limited analytics to understand how the Service is used. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email.
